11 months!
Chatterbox. That is how I would describe Griffin at 11 months! He is just talking up a storm but only saying about 5 actual words. Usually it is just a bunch of jibberish with alot of pointing.
Here are the pics for 11 months. Can you believe that when he was born this little lamby was about his size?

Oh, I must share this picture with you too... There was an afternoon thunderstorm today and Millie got scared. (seriously, this dog is such a scairdy cat). Well, I was playing with Griffin in the living room and when I got up to get some water, I found Millie behind the couch. Real smooth, Millie. I am sure that the lightening and thunder won't know where to find you :)
That's all for now. Can you believe that our next post will be about a ONE YEAR OLD??? Where did the time go?

SkyDive Atlanta!!!

So about 2 months ago, Sara Kate's friend Anna decided that for her 27th birthday she wanted to jump out of a plane at 14,000'. It started with her and 3 others but by the time the big day rolled around, which was yesterday, she managed to talk 9 others into going with her. Among the 10 were Anna, Laura, Tommy, Me, Matt, Eric, Karla, Tom, Katie and Jason.
We drove down to SkyDive Atlanta in Thomaston, GA which is a neighboring community to Nowheresville. The entire process lasted about 4 and a 1/2 hours. When we were signing in, the girl who was witnessing our signatures to the legal disclosure that we were required to sign told me the following which provided the much needed comfort that I was seeking. She said, "Make sure that your emergency contact is not in your skydiving party." I laughed, but after seeing her face, realized she was serious. So we sat around for another hour waiting for our 15 minute training course which was a brief course in "what not to do" while jumping out of a plane. Since we had 10 jumpers and 8 of us paid for a video jumper to follow us on the way down, we were broken up in to 3 groups.
Group 1: Eric, Laura & Matt
This is the plane that we jumped out of.
Group 2: Anna, Karla, Tom, and Me
Group 3: Tommy, Katy Wall, Jason
Here is pretty much how things went. Stood around for a while.
Got into my jumpsuit and harness.
Got on the plane (this is Group 1 getting on)
Got freaked out as we quickly climbed to 14,000. This picture was taken at only 6,000 and they had just opened the door to the plane to give us some A.C.
Get to the door of the plane and jump. We had 4 people jumping in my group. It was only 10 seconds between each person so all the stuff I was supposed to remember when I got up to the edge was not recalled. I had no time to react, just jump.
I was basically looking at this below... (Tom jumping)
It all happens so quick. The instructor told us in the class while still on the ground that they were required to ask if we were ready to SkyDive....but they were not required to wait for an answer. They said that whether you say "Heck yea let's do it or NO NO NO" that it didn't matter. He said that with the wind and engine noise, at 14,000 feet, "NO NO NO" sounds a lot like "GO GO GO". So the answer to how many people chicken out when they get up there is...zero because you have no choice.
The freefall lasted about 50-55 seconds.
Once, the chute was pulled, it was probably another 4-5 minutes and then we were on the ground.

Some More Visitors
We had some late visitors on Thursday night. Travis and Elizabeth Harville (friends from college) came through and stayed with us. They got held up in traffic and didn't get here until 11:30, but once they got here, we stayed up until 2:00 catching up. Here's a picture of them with G.
On Friday afternoon, we had some more visitors. GiGi and Pop drove over from Birmingham and stopped for the weekend as they were passing through to their final destination of Greensboro, NC. Just in case you were wondering what the little man is looking like these days, here's a few videos that show how his little personality is developing amongst in addition to his walking skills.

Mom, Park, Patio
Griffin is all tuckered out after a very busy week!
On Monday, Mom came to visit and we had a blast! She was just here for a couple of days, but we made the most of it and even learned a thing or two. Griffin now knows "uh-oh" thanks to mom :) As in, "uh-oh" I threw my banana on the floor, "uh-oh" I "dropped" my paci... you get the picture. I'll be honest, it can be slightly annoying, but he's so stinkin' cute I don't even care!
Wednesday afternoon we took a little trip over to the park to let Millie take her monthly swim. Griffin laughed when he saw Millie jump in the water to chase the ball.
And of course, the week would not be complete without an entire day devoted to a house project. This time it was the patio under the deck. We (and by we I mean mostly Blake) are so close to being finished. All there is left to do is landscape the area surrounding the patio. Just imagine hostas planted in the bed to the back of the patio and some hanging ferns and maybe a potted flower or two.
Blake has done a fabulous job and we are so proud of him! What do you think??

Ten Months!!
Griffin turned 10 months old on Monday and if you have been following the blog, you know that we have had some big accomplishments over the past week or so. Here's what Griffin is up to these days:
WALKING!! He hasn't stood up on his own and taken off just yet, but if you sit him on your lap and help him get his balance, he'll take several steps by himself. In fact, he walked from our front living room into the kitchen yesterday!
TALKING!! He can say "bye bye", "ball" and "dada" like a champ. He has said "mama" in the past, but for some reason he hasn't said it in a while. I never really thought he knew what he was saying with that word anyway, but I have high hopes that he'll say it again soon- for real.
PLAYING!! He LOVES his little ball popper and his basketball hoop. He is already really handy with the basketball and loves to dunk it through the hoop and throw it to his dad. He loves to read his books and we are having lots of fun trying new tasks everyday.
I can't believe that his first birthday is right around the corner. He is getting so big, but we are having so much fun. Enjoy the monthly pictures below... and don't forget to go back and review all of the pics so far. I am so glad that I did this monthly pic. Hopefully I'll remember to do it with the next one someday.
