Move over McDreamy!

Our boy is 13 lbs!! We weighed Griffin last night and he has grown quite a bit. I guess that explains the double chin :)

This past weekend was full of lots of visitors!! We had friends from Memphis, Athens and Chattanooga stop by to see Griffin and to hang out for a bit. Even Uncle E made an appearance!

Travis and Elizabeth went to school with Blake at Miss. State. They were on their way to a wedding in NC when they dropped by to visit. We haven't seen them in years, so it was quite a treat!

Anna hung out with us on Saturday and she was able to see how much Griffin LOVES the activity mat that she and her mother gave us. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of Anna and Griffin together, but that just means that she will have to come over from Athens another time for a photo shoot :)

Chrissy stopped by on her way home from ATL. This was their first meeting, but I can already tell that they are big fans of each other.

Uncle E dropped by after his Energy Rating conference. (By the way, if you are in need of an energy audit on your home, check him out!! http://egc-llc.com) Who is the man?...to come all the way up here to hang out after a long day on the job. We love you Uncle E!

Griffin got lots of good holdin' time this weekend and I had some nice downtime in between visitors. Meanwhile, Blake (aka yard stud) burned limbs in the yard, hauled a load of firewood (large chunks of oak) to the backyard, split said firewood and was just an all-around man's man this weekend. If you can buy stock in Advil, it might not be a bad investment :)

Oh yeah, we also rearranged the furniture this weekend, what do you think?

Finally, you may be wondering how I came up with the title for this blog post. Well, apparently Millie thinks that she is a neuro-surgeon. As you can see in the pic below, Mr. Duck had a rough weekend. I'll try to mend him, but he may have seen his last romp with Millie. (By the way, as I type this, Millie is running like a crazy dog through the living room with another toy. One day, I'll try to get her on video b/c it's pretty hilarious.)

You are my sunshine!

Griffin has been cracking us up lately with his little smiles, laughs and coos. He is just the cutest thing! Here is a video for your viewing pleasure. Feel free to comment and tell me how cute my little boy is :)

Another development this week:
Every time I go into the nursery, Millie follows me. And every time, she pounces on the pile of stuffed animals that Griffin has accrued. And every time, I scold her. This week, however, she hijacked Mr. Duck and took off. I gave up. Mr. Duck has become a Millie toy. And she loves it!! She prances around with him in her mouth and bucks like a little bronco. How can I refuse her this simple joy? Especially when she has been getting the severe short end of the stick since our little man has made his appearance. You gotta love this dog...

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween... a great excuse to dress your kids up in ridiculous outfits and eat tons of candy. And we wouldn't miss it!

First, it was off to Macon for our annual Pumpkin Carving Contest at Aunt Kelli and Uncle Steve's house. We had a blast and were very impressed at everyone's carving abilities. This year, Uncle Tim took home the coveted toy rat for the very best pumpkin of the night.
Look at all those pumpkins!!

Here's a shot of the crowd waiting to vote on the winning pumpkin.

Uncle Tim with his toy rat which he will proudly display all year long in his home. (Blake thinks my family is weird... I can't see why :)

Griffin met Uncle Moon and Aunt Cherie at the pumpkin carving... I think Uncle Moon might have a little buddy on his hands. :)

Blake took Bennett on a little golf cart ride... pretty sure they bonded.

Griffin was in good hands while mom and dad carved pumpkins. Thanks Mops!!

Bets and PawPaw

GG bought Griffin the most adorable little monkey costume and it was a hit! Even though I felt sort of mean for putting the little guy in it (he wasn't exactly a fan of the costume at first), he was a hit and it was a great photo opp. Plus, with the nasty, dreary weather outside, it provided much needed warmth. After a short time, he snuggled right down in it and took himself a little snooze :)
Our little monkey man

FAMILY SHOT!!

Blake made a little Halloween runway for trick or treaters to find their way to our house for candy. His costume was a cowboy hat :)

Finally, the dawgs may have lost, but Griffin got to meet Sarah!! That almost makes up for a crappy day in Jacksonville!

We have some great video of Griffin playing on his little activity mat. He's talking and smiling and just being the absolute cutest! I'll be sure to post that soon.

One Whole Month!!

Wow! I cannot believe that this little guy is one whole month old! We went to the doctor today for his one month check up and we have some great, healthy stats to share!

So, at birth our little man was 7 lbs. 15 oz. and 21.5 inches long. Today, he measured a whopping 10 lbs. and 5.5 oz. and 22 inches long (58th percentile in each category). Can you believe it??!!? He is already getting so big!

Also, he is starting to track us with his eyes. I have been working with him for a couple of days using toys, but tonight while Blake and I were walking at the park, he followed Blake from side to side and basically stared at him the whole time.

I can't wait to see what other fun tricks we have in store for the next few weeks. Here are some recent pictures of Griffin.

This one was taken on Monday, his actual 1 month birthday.

I took these two earlier today. I caught him before a yawn... but it looks like he is smiling.

I'll try to remember to take these pictures each month so that we can see how big he gets!

Road Trip!!

Last week, we took the first of what will be many road trips with baby Griffin. We started out the week in Macon. Blake dropped Griffin, Millie and me off at Bets and Pawpaw's house where we spent the week while he made sales calls in South GA and Florida. We had a great time hanging out with Great Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends. We had lots of visitors and really enjoyed getting away for a few days.

On Friday, Blake picked us up and took us to Birmingham to see more family, meet some friends and attend a baby shower for Lea and Bradley Moore who are expecting their sweet baby boy in December. Griffin is going to have so many baby boys to play with as he grows up!

Here are just a few shots from the weekend.

No, we didn't travel by tractor, but Blake couldn't resist taking a spin on it while we were in Birmingham. Griffin is gonna love to ride on his grandfather's tractors when he gets a little older!

Uncle E and Griffin. This is there first time together since the night that Griffin was born! I think that they have a special bond already :)

Uncle Tommy and Griffin. Thanks for all of the diapers Uncle Tommy!! Come to ATL and visit soon!

Stevie, Melissa, Brennan, Brandy, and Tommy. Breagan (Brennan and Brandy's 1 year old) had just gone to bed. He's pretty stinkin' cute though and I know Griffin is gonna love playing with the little guy.

Happy 3-0 to Courtney! We were sorry to miss her actual birthday earlier this month, but we were glad to celebrate with her and help her eat this yummy cake while we were in Birmingham.

And you know that there is sure to be a photo shoot when we have the cousins together. They both have on little onsies that say "Cutest Pumpkin in the Patch." Precious.

I don't know why, but I LOVE the pics where Griffin is yawning... they are my favorite!!

It's hard to believe that this guy is already 1 month old. More on that later.

I'm a fan of Fall

I am convinced that this is the best time of year. There are several reasons that I feel this way, but I'll name a few:

1. Football... this way when people visit we don't just have the baby to stare at, but we have SEC Football on the tube. (it's amazing that I feel this way even after our terrible loss to UT today)
Griffin already loves watching football with his dad.

2. Crisp, cool weather. With weather so scrumptious I can take Griffin out in his little sling and throw the ball for Millie. And I don't even break a sweat!

3. Pumpkin and spice. You name it, candles, muffins, pies, I love this smell!! On Labor Day weekend I started burning pumpkin candles in our house. There is nothing like the spicy, fall smell to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I. LOVE. FALL.

Aunt June, Aunt Janet and Papa came to visit this weekend and we snapped a few shots of everyone. We LOVED seeing them and we were thrilled that they made the drive from Birmingham to meet our little wonderful. Check out the pics below.

Thanks for the visit!! Come back soon!

On another note... several of you have heard me say it, but this is proof. Sometimes I feel like I have two children :)
