Too much fun and Two Months Old

We have a lot to be thankful for this year. A sweet, new baby girl and a little boy who just brings so much joy into our home.

Emerson turned two months old last Friday and is waking up from her newborn slumber :) She is still slightly more fussy than we would like at times, but she definitely is starting to grow out of that too. She is smiling at us more and more and making some "ooohhs" and ""gaaahhhs" noises too. I can't wait to hear her little voice talking to us and watch her grow up even more!

Griffin is just a mess. He has had us laughing a lot lately. When we told Griffin that Christmas is coming soon and that it is Jesus' birthday, he promptly sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and then yelled at the top of his lungs "blow it out Jesus" (We are pretty sure that he thinks the Christmas tree is one giant candle.) He loves to play outside so it is a good thing that it has been so warm this month.

Parenting a toddler and a newborn is a lot of work, but Blake and I manage to keep it together for the most part. We are both exhausted, but this won't last forever, right? Plus, it is totally worth it!

Here are some pics from the last month for your viewing pleasure:

"Two On Monday", One Month on Tuesday

Griffin has been saying all kinds of new things lately, including "Two on Monday" when asked how old he is and telling me to have "Sweet Dreams, Mommy."
Emerson turned one month old last Tuesday and I took a growth picture of her in her little rocking chair with the same lamb that Griffin took monthly pictures with his first year. We went to the doctor for her first month's check-up and her stats are...
weight: 11 lbs
length: 21.5 inches
head circumference: 14.75
She was born smaller than Griffin, but at one month she is almost a third of a pound heavier than he was.
Here are some pictures and a video from the past couple of weeks. Enjoy!

Thank Heaven!

God is good!! That's all that I can think about lately as I am driving around town, hanging out with my precious children and amazing husband, enjoying the nice fall weather and just generally soaking in every moment of this crazy life. It makes me even that much more thankful for His love and grace in my life. Thank you, God, for who you are and your many blessings in our lives!!

We are still settling in with our little one. She was officially two weeks old on Sunday and I think that we are getting into more of a routine. She is sleeping 3 hours at a time over night... which is a big improvement from where we started!! For some reason, after her 2:00 ish feeding she has a hard time getting back to sleep. Blake has come to my rescue several nights in a row now, but we are still trying to get to the bottom of her displeaure at this time almost every night.

Griffin is doing so great with his baby sister. He is so patient with her when she cries and is so gentle with her when they interact.

Emerson Camille Greene

Our baby girl is one week old and I have finally found an extra minute to share some pictures with you of her arrival.

For those of you who want the details, I am happy to share them with you privately, but for the sake of those who are not interested, I'll give you this... we went to the hospital to be induced on Saturday, September 24th in anticipation that we would have our girl sometime late in the next day (like we did with Griffin). Well, Emerson had other plans and after laboring from about midnight until 6:30 a.m. she was here. Our perfect little girl weighed in at 7 pounds 5 ounces and measured 20 inches long. She scored a 10 on her APGAR test and while we already knew that she was perfect, the score seemed to really shock the nursery attendants.

The night of our induction. Clearly, we have no idea what this night has in store for us.

Bets and Papa were keeping Griffin at home when we called and told them to make their way up to meet Emerson. They arrived shortly after 7 a.m. and were the first to meet her. Big brother was definitely in shock at this point.

GG and Pop drove over from Birmingham to meet their newest granddaughter. This makes 4 grandkids in 2.5 years... wow!

Our little family in the hospital on Monday morning.

In the car on the way home Monday afternoon.

Anna and Katie Beth were our first non-family visitors. We love you guys!

Here is our little beauty enjoying breakfast on the back deck on Tuesday morning. We were released from the hospital on Monday afternoon. It was so nice to be home!

Griffin loves his baby sister and gives her kisses all day long. He loves to point out her "tiny ears" and count her little toes.

Aunt Coco made the trip over from Birmingham to stage a little photo shoot of Emerson. I will post pics soon- they are gorgeous!

Here is one picture that Blake took over her shoulder. Isn't she an angel?

Daddy gave Emerson her first bath while Mommy ran the video camera. She didn't scream nearly as much as I thought she would. Big brother was in the bathtub at the same time - our first double bathtime!!

Proud (and very handsome) Daddy. I absolutely could not do this without him. He has been so supportive and wonderful as I knew he would be. Blake, you are the best Daddy in the world. I feel so blessed to share these beautiful children with you. I love you!
